Minor Illnesses

Patients can be seen by our four Nursing Sisters for many minor or routine medical matters as well as traditional nursing duties.  This provides an alternative to seeing the Doctors, especially if you need to be seen quickly.

Some of the minor illnesses are:

  • ear, nose and throat conditions
  • eye infections
  • gastroenteritis
  • spots
  • rashes
  • chicken pox
  • urinary tract infections
  • injuries
  • emergency contraception, etc.

Please call the surgery to book an appointment.

Sister cannot prescribe for you, therefore, if you are expecting a prescription you will need to wait until a Doctor is free to sign for it

Test Results

You may ring the surgery for the results of tests which have been requested by the Medical Centre, but please remember the following points:

  1. Results will only be given to the specific patient to whom they apply.  In the interest of confidentiality please be prepared to identify yourself.
  2. Please telephone between 2:00pm and 4:00pm to give the Doctor time to comment on the test and at a time when the receptionist will have more time to deal with your enquiry.  Checking results can be time consuming so is not possible during a busy morning.
  3. Please do not expect the reception staff to have any medical knowledge.  They are instructed only to tell you if your test is normal.  If the test is abnormal or you require further discussion or interpretation then please refer to your Doctor.
